Bradford born entrepeneur Asghar Ali invites us into his cafe bar to tell us about how he has seen the city change and where he thinks it is going in the future.
regarding asghar at buttershaw upper school. He always thought too much of himself the dickhead i remember when they used to call ambitach bachan. Anyway the only problem with asghar was that he was full of himself. remember asghar no one likes a smart arse. You need humble yourself. Once a jack always a jack.
What about all the amazing building that have been constantly torn down? Yorkshire Forward, BCR and the Council are lying, thieving, crooks. The death bell for this city will be the knocking down of the New Victoria (ODEON). We could have a world class concert hall, we do it is already there, but halfwits with grubby hands want to knock it down for some monstrous new building that will no doubt be filled with shit no one wants, cafe? hotel? finance office? yawn. We have enough of those.
MY Bradford...how about a follow up video or speech Asghar (ALI)!? "WE Bradford?" Food for thought? Take your vision and your dream and think about a thousand people and a standing ovation...make your Dad even prouder...and make it awesome and ridiculous...with help from the PSA (Professional Speaking Association) :)
What a lovely, lovely man. His passion for our city brought tears to my eyes. I only hope that when all the work has finally finished in the city centre, we Bradfordians can once again be proud to call ourselves Bradfordians and when we're away from Bradford and are asked where we come from we won't say "Near Leeds" but say proudly "Bradford".
enjoyed seeing your video. I am sure your restaurant is quite near where I used to live in 1947 on Grove Terrace which was off Great Horton Road. Things sure have changed around there though since I live there. I will have to pop into your eating place when I am over there in July and have a taste of some of the good food. I enjoy Curries and Bradford seem to have some of the best.
Have not lived there for 50 years but like to get back there from time to time
