Fungus Rap

Verse 1:

Our Protist is a Fungus
They live very much among us
In the feet of many athletes
To the back seats of the school bus

Phagocytosis is how they eat
By using their fake feet (pseudopodia)
They have a body like a tube
And they love to live in cleats

Oomycetes are related
To Fungus, but they are hated
Because they lack septa (cross walls)
But that's totally overrated (coenocytic)

Like fungi, they form filaments (hyphae)
Secretes enzymes and substance
Although they lack plastids
And cellulose is its contents (cell wall)

They are known as Amoebozas
Entamoebas, Gymnamoebas (subunits)
They also come as Slime Molds
Either Cellular or Plasmodias

Slime Molds are pretty great
The spores often separate
Into Amoebas that get food (bacteria)
And when done, they aggregate

The spores move like slugs
Forming stalks (plant stems) for lady bugs
It secretes a lot of cAMP (cyclic AMP)
But not the kind they used for thugs (Boot Camp)

Cellular (Slime Molds) feed on bacteria
While Plasmodial eat herbaria (Vegetations)
And although they feed on food
They have Mitochondria
