US commercial for the Sega Game Gear, featuring:

Castle of Illusion
Revenge of Drancon (Wonder Boy)

The Castle of Illusion gameplay footage is from the Mega Drive/Genesis version, which would probably be illegal nowadays.

  • gamegear = best handheld ever!

  • the reason i got a game gear back in the day was because even though i new the gameboy had a better library was cheaper ect, you couldnt see shit on that screen unless it was insanely bright in the room you were in, and the refresh rate on the screen was terrible, i mean play super mario land 2 on there its just a bunch of blurred black pixels even if the room is really bright its still impossible to see.

  • I prefer the Sega Nomad. That is the best handheld ever. It had the best library of games for any handheld ever.

  • I got the game gear and like 6 games for $8 at a garage sale. I still have it somewhere.

when I first got it I was amazed it had color and a screen brightness.

But the downside was it took too many damn batteries!

  • @EmperorSamoth Where is the video description from?

  • gamegear is too damn big, i can't even hide it inside my desk or something...still it was good, nostalgic

  • Anyone else notice that Castle of Illusion was from the Megadrive version and not the gamegear version? I'm such a geek! XD

  • Game Gear is the best portable ever!

  • It was only slightly bigger than the Game Boy, but it was smaller than the Atari Lynx.

And the PSP isn't smaller, either.

  • you guys are cocksuckers gamegear was way better

  • Yes, you could use an AC adapter, but then you might as well buy a home console if you're gonna have to plug in everywhere. It's not so portable if you always have to cart around an AC adapter and some spare batteries to boot.

  • It's not like you had to use batteries. It had an AC adapter so you could play it at home without batteries. And let's be honest, who plays handhelds out in the wilderness for more than five hours? I'll admit, it's pretty taxing if you do play on the go a lot but it's fun to raise heads when you lift a black brick out of your backpack and start playing Triple Trouble.
