This game is amazing. You can download the UQM release here - http://sc2.sourceforge.net/.

  • I agree with the general consensus here. Star Control II is quite simply the best game ever made (or at least the best I have seen). My friends and I used to play super melee for hours back then, and with The Ur-Quan Master project, we've taken to it again. This video isn't very well done though, the audio is out of sync and choppy. Perhaps re-adjust your DOSBox settings?

  • I used the sblaster tag when I ran it...maybe that's why it sounds unusual? It sounds okay to me.

  • Mind blowing graphics and audio for the time (decent even by todays standards). A gigantic, dynamic universe to explore. Interesting overarching story and branching conversations with some of the best designed alien races ever. A healthy amount of strategy and rpgish elements with the configuration of the Precursor vessel. Fun and addictive harvesting/mining mini-game. And a really sweet battle engine which extends to a kick-ass multiplayer.

    SCII wins Best Overall Game Ever, hands down.

  • Don't forget clever, witty, and engaging writing. :D I can't agree with you more!

  • best game, EVER made. bar none.

  • Star Control II The Ur-Quan= BEST GAME EVER!!!!!

    It kicks the shit out of every game such as Street Fighter II, Half-Life, Halo, The Legend of Zelda series, Super Mario Bros. series, Ultima series, Deus Ex, Resident Evil 4, Doom, X-Com, Star Craft, SimCity, Strider, Sonic {the 2D ones}, Metroid, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto III, and even Tetris. {oh yeah I went there}

    Props for showing the intro for this game man. :)

  • i love this game, and it came out before i was born!

  • A classic.. Truly one of the best games I've ever played. Was 9 back then...

    Anyone remember Golden age of PC gaming when fun depended on a game's innovation and story telling to keep you hooked? (8 Megs and we didn't even need a FX card back then!)

  • This game was fantastic, my mates and I would always play the battles, I was undefeated until one day when I was going to die and somehow the power socket got ripped from the wall, I still get reminded of that one to this day!

  • Man thanks for posting this...I was...14/15? I spent an entire summer beating this game...back then there was so such thing as "looking up guides and cheats on the internet." But that made it all the more satisfying when I did beat it. Nostalgic! :)

  • Hands down one of the finest games ever made. Awsome story line, in depth characters, kick ass game play. You know a game is good when it was made over 10 years ago and you can still play it for hours today. I actually went through this game agian five months ago. I wish more game makers today would take notes from this game

  • what a great game, only thing that even comes close is Xcom
