Next day...
Joe's POV:
I woke up to my mother shaking me.
JM: Wake up, Joseph!
Joe: Nooooo, goo awaayy.
JM: You wouldn't even need to wake up right now if you didn't skip your appointment a couple of weeks ago. I've finally got a new one for you so get up!
Joe: I seriously hate you, Mother.
JM: You'll thank me one day.
*Thinking; never in a million years*
I staggered out of bed and into the shower, forgetting to remove my boxers.
Joe: Shit!
I cannot focus at five in the morning.
After I got ready I called Demi, hoping I wouldn't wake her.
Demi: Hello, boyfriend. *She answered after just two rings.*
Joe: Well aren't you cheery?
Demi: Sure am. My doctor is on vacation so I don't have to go in today, therefore this day is just for me and you. Wait, you are so not a morning person...what are you doing up?
Joe: I'm sorry Dems, my mother is making me go to the doctor. Remember the day we met?
Demi: Aww, this sucks. Do you want me to go with?
Joe: Nah, it's okay. I'll call you later this afternoon though, alright?
Demi: Sure. I should hang out with Sel and Miles anyways, Sel needs a pick me up.
Later...
Demi's POV:
After hanging up with Joseph I grabbed my favorite tanning bikini, some extra cash, my sunglasses and my keys and headed for the door. My mom stopped me on the way out though.
DM: Demi, where are you going?
Demi: To pick up Miley and Selena. We're going shopping and tanning.
DM: Okay okay, I need to have a word with you later though.
Demi: Can we talk now, or else it'll be on my mind all day?
DM: Well, what I want to talk to you about you may have on your mind all day anyways.
Demi: I'm sure i'll be fine. Let's talk. *Sits down across from her mother at the kitchen table*
DM: It's about this boy you've been seeing.
Demi: Joseph, what about him?
DM: Is he aware of your...condition?
Demi: Yes, mom.
DM: What did you tell him?
Demi: The truth.
DM: And that is...?
Demi: Everything, from my heart condition since I was 12 to my current state.
DM: And that is...?
Demi: That I don't have much longer.
DM: *swallows and looks up at the ceiling* Dear Lord, Demetria!
Demi: *raises her eyebrows* What?
DM: First of all, you're not dying. And second of all, why would you tell him that? If you want to be with him then why would you tell him something so...so negative?
Demi: He's a big boy, Mother. He can handle it.
DM: Hunny, no 17 year old boy is mature enough to not run away from that type of thing. You probably scared the pants off him.
Demi: *giggling at the thought*
DM: Oh Demi, what has gotten into you? You really like this Joe character don't you?
Demi: I really do.
DM: And he makes you happy?
Demi: Extatic.
DM: And you're sure he won't hurt you?
Demi: *hesitating because she knows the reason why his mother wants Joe to see someone* Y-yes.
DM: *raises one eyebrow* I'll trust you on that. But if he hurts you i'm playing the Father card and tearing him limb from limb.
Demi: Okay, okay. Are we done?
DM: Yes, hunny. Give me a kiss.
Demi: *kisses her mother on the cheek and goes to the door* Bye, Mommy.
DM: Goodbye sweetie, be safe! I love you!
Demi: *as she heads for her car* Love you too!
Meanwhile, with Joe.
Joe's POV:
Therapist: Please sit, Joseph.
Joe: It's Joe. *sits down*
Therapist: Okay, Joe. Why don't you tell me why you're here?
Joe: I don't know, my mother is delusional.
Therapist: Okay, so what if she is? She isn't you, why are you here?
Joe: I don't fucking know!
Therapist: *nods and jots something down on his board*
Joe: Look, i'm sorry it's just...my mother believes that just because my brother, Nick, is outgoing and stuff that because i'm not, there MUST be something wrong with me.
Therapist: Mhmm. And is there?
Joe: No...
Therapist: Tell me about your brother.
Joe: He's a jerk.
Therapist: And...?
Joe: Him and his friends.......*trails off*
Therapist: Joe? Do they give you a hard time?
Joe: You could say that.
Therapist: How so?
Joe: I'd rather not talk about it. *looks down, playing with his fingers*
Therapist: Okay, that is completely fine. We'll talk about whenever you're ready.
Joe: Thanks.
Therapist: How about we talk more next time?
Joe: That's all? It's been like five minutes.
Therapist: Yes, and it's only session 1. Time will increase every session.
Joe: Oh, okay.
Therapist: You are more than welcomed to stay if you'd like.
Joe: No, that's okay. Next time...
Therapist: Next time.
