Find tabs for this lick at http://www.freeguitarvideos.com/southern-rock/southern-rock-lick.html . Southern Rock Lick is a free online video guitar lesson by Jody Worrell that will teach you how to play lick in the key of D. The use of doublestops and syncopation in this lick really give it the feel of a Lynyrd Skynyrd riff.

  • Sounds kind of like "Gimme Three Steps".

  • @slowhand633 Major pentatonic scales are usually used in southern-style music. It depends, this is why u have ears and brain. If it sounds good, it sounds good. IMHO, music has no rules.

  • @Django5198 It's in major pentatonic scale.

  • would you usually play this over a d maj or d min ??

  • Skynyrd loves this riff. Allen and Gary were heavily influenced by the British invasion. You can hear this in the Rolling Stones, too.
