More than 250 migrant workers have been freed from a factory which rights activist claim was like a jail,at Mahachai Township, Thailand. On the 10th of March 2008, Thai authorities raid the factory and shut it down. All the Burmese migrant laborers were forced to work from 2am in the morning until at least 8pm at night in this factory. The factory was like a jail, the barracks where the workers lived was locked from the outside. Burmese workers earn just 200 baht or six US dollars a week with poor accommodation at this factory. Many of the workers had skin diseases because the factory used chemicals for processing the prawns. After the factory was raided by Thai authorities, some of the workers had to under go medical treatment at the nearby Hospital.
