So God requires that I tell someone about the things that I am most ashamed? WHY? What good reason exists to require me to tell a priest?
-
I would agree

only ignorant if they are not culpable, which means they've had no credible promptings of their reason that have lead them to recognize error in their faith tradition. The will can still be good even if reason is flawed. Thoughts?

Yes, it does. But i think we can both agree that for the most part, its ignorant apostasy? Perhaps unintentional?

most of today's Protestants have not apostatized themselves as they've simply grown up in the tradition of their fathers (Luther, Calvin, etc...). Now if they remain in their current way of life in rejection of credible motives, that is, rejecting the dictates of their consciences and natural reason, (which is grace from God) then that smells a little more like apostacy.

As long as your repentance in confession is genuine and you continue to work out our sins with fear and trembling, you are good; as I understand it.
