For a complete lesson on one-step addition equations, go to http://www.yourteacher.com - 1000+ online math lessons featuring a personal math teacher inside every lesson! In this lesson, students learn that solving an equation for x means isolating the x on one side of the equation. To isolate the x, the following techniques are used. If a number is being added to x, subtract the number from both sides of the equation. If a number is being subtracted from x, add the number to both sides of the equation. If a number is being multiplied by x, divide both sides of the equation by the number. If a number is being divided by x, multiply both sides of the equation by the number.

  • @RSLimon You dumb fucking retard! It's -5. if it was -13 then the answer would be -17 but the answer is already give and it's -9, you stupid shit head. All you did is confuse stupid ass Tyler even more!!

  • thank you so much thank you god for this person

  • @TheTyler8166 that's -5!!!

  • how dah hell do i do -4+y=-9

  • Anyone Have a video for solving equations like this?

    4 y = 8 x + 12 Solve for y.

    Plz im kinda confused (in 8th grade)

  • how do u do y-(-61)=20.5

  • Easy.

    X+2=6

    X=6-2

    X=4 .

  • haha stupid american system of teaching. Europe's way of teaching math is much more fun and rigorous.

  • i am god

  • That's weird.

    The American system suggests to subtract 2 from both sides of the equation.

    The Russian one suggests to take 2 into the other side of the equation, changing plus to minus and vice versa.

    In other words, Americans would turn this into

    x+2-2=6-2,

    while Russians would simply write

    x=6-2, as 2 transforms into -2.
