HAh Uh - Fun?

You DO NOT correct proofs!!! You correct prints. Proofs are not just for editing (content). Proofing should be consistent and standardized. Anyone knows that. And, as someone pointed out, if you have to use high contrast filtration (or high contrast graded papers) to make your proofs, you are totally ignoring the valuable information that those proofs are trying to tell you - that is, that your film development (and possibly exposure) is way off. Geez! This is so basic.

I agree completely. The guy who posted this video doesn't have a clue. He's never even heard of a proper proof. After reading the comments here, I checked out some of his other videos and they pathetic, to put it mildly. EV really does seem to have a bunch of morons posting videos for them. Any new darkroom photographer should ignore anything this guy says. I really mean that.

Zone and Wisner are right. This guy has no idea what he is doing. His videos are not only laughable but they are loaded with misinformation. Where in the world does Expert Village find these idiots? Avoid this guy's videos if you are looking for useful information.

Nonsense. You zone system and large format photographers are not taking into account that roll film does not usually come with the guarantee of consistency of exposure. Step into the real world - you make a contact sheet to SEE YOUR FRAMES FOR EDITING not judge how good you were at initial exposure.
I don't need to waste paper just to see if my exposure was off or on - I can do that by looking at the negs. This is why always using the same contact sheet exposure time is a waste of time.

After seeing one of this man's other videos, I had to check out another one. With all due respect, this man is posting incorrect information. No experienced photographer would say the things this guy is saying. This is the type of misinformation that new darkroom workers don't need.
This is very bad information. It shows a very poor understanding of the process. You should not be teaching.

What an odd reply! Not only does it make no sense at all, but it's as if you didn't even read my comment. Apparently you don't even know what the Zone System is because it is for large format photography and we use sheet film! Contact sheets ARE used for editing, of course, but proper proofs also give the photographer valuable information and feedback about exposure and development. Any serious photographer knows that.
