this is some footage i got of a fresh water eel in australia. our guide , cam, through some food into the water (after we had gotten out) and this giant eel swam out. he was so cool!
yeah, I have a wire covering across the top of the tank, like chicken wire but the holes are a lot smaller so they cant squeeze through. I just fold the wire down around the outside rim of the tank and its held down with the light which runs the length of the tank and several bits of drift wood on the corners. I find its better than glass cause A- it cant break, B it lets the air in and ventilation is a must and C its cheaps as chips.
I have a 170cm by 90cm by 90cm tank. They eat anything from pellets to crickets, to frozen food or live food. They dont seem to see too well and depend more I think on their sense of smell and touch. They are short finned freshwater eels.

Great! I had a tiretrack jump out of my 55G while I was traveling once. I now have a completely covered 100G w/ a fire eel :)
