With the exception of some of the wood choices these basses are very similiar to Washburn Bantams. The typical USA bantam had a Maple neck, rosewood board, ash body and figured top. The pickups were bartolini's and they had the buzz feiten tuning system. Even the body was similiar. If you can't afford a real mtd and don't want the foreign ones try one of the now discontinued american bantams like the xb 925.
