The goal of this project is to take cabin design further from the basic requirements relating to machine safety and user ergonomics, airconditioning from comfort aspects and vibration studies combined with acoustics design for user cognitive ergonomics and comfort.

Thus, the project will focus not only in the basic human-machine interaction requirements, but also in the advanced requirements rising from the customer needs.

Two main outcomes:
1) to create a simulator, enabling analyses and tests of user experience (UX), and
2) to produce a set of generic design principles and guidelines for integrating user experience in machine and industrial workplace design.

The project outcomes give the machine manufacturers new tools and methods for enhanced customization and improved product design process.

This video is outcome of LEFA project, facilitated by FIMECC - Finnish Metals and Engineering Competence Cluster.

LEFA is to develop novel user centered R&D methods based on real-time virtual prototypes and environments for the mobile machines. By the novel methods and technologies to be developed within the project the usability, safety and life-cycle efficiency of the existing products of the participating companies are studied.

Goals for VTT research are:
- To improve field of view analysis in VR environment
- To integrate the Human Centered Virtual Concept Design approach to companies current design processes
- To improve human-machine interaction (HMI) by using VR systems
