Ya I agree. The reason I,m so harsh about is. I have a 71 convert. They had the GT truck lid on it. when I bought the car.

They had over 3/4 bondo on the 1/4 extention to get it to work. I had to take a hammer to bust all the bondo off when I was restoring the car. So when I see a Convertible with the GT trunk lid. My mind goes back to what I seen on mine.

ahhhh, perfectly understandable, weve dealt with overly "bondoed" cars whether it was from poor repairs or attempted modifications. we didnt really alter the convertible itself much at all, we used the deck lid "corners" off of the sportsroof also and did have to shape them to match the convertibles lines. we did keep the original decklid and corners though so itll be as easy as bolting them back on to make it all original.

I never critisized the paint. I just think as classy as the convertibles are. Maybe you would turn it back

to it,s original glory.The GT trunk lid to me looks like something some kid would do.The car to me deserves better. Just my thoughts

well, i can appreciate honest critisizm. it took alot more than just slapping a sportsroof trunk lid onto it to get it molded in. a "kid" wouldve just bolted a wing on, jacked it up and put nasty wheels and tires on it.

Nice car, but you have to get rid of the goofy cobra

however, having said all that, on your last comment, which i erased accidentally( i mistakenly clicked on "remove" instead of "reply" i dont erase any comments) you critisized the paint and stripes along with the rear trunk lip and on that i totally agree. i never have liked this paint or stripe job. weve just been getting projects in so fast i havent had time to repaint it. id like to go back with the factory "lazer stripes".

Personally I like the sportsroof trunk on your car. It is something Ford should have done from from the factory. I have a Torino GT convertible as well, number 20 off the assembly line and it was sent to the track right from the factory as a Pace Car. The Ford Racing clinic put a spoiler on the rear trunk and fitted it with Cragar mags. I have gone to Ford shows and taken heat for them fom the :purists" but thats the way the car was built. Keep your car the way YOU like it . It looks great!

i honestly dont understand your fixation with the decklid on our torino. its actually not a cobra feature. its on all 70 and 71 sportsroofs. with everything ive seen done to torinos and classic musclecars in general from huge scoops to crazy wheels and tires and even wings, that little 1 1/2" lip on that trunk lid is a mild modification. of all the compliments weve had your the only one to critisize it so i guess its going to stay.

appreciate that Jack, its actually going to be time for a new paint job soon. trying to decide on a color and stripe combo. we paint ourselves and have a CAD cutter to use for cutting vinyl stripes.
