@crazy580 Yes, you are correct. The system uses high grade photoluminscent materials. It is not using fibreoptics.

@downfader2 I don't think it is a fibre optic system, more like glow in the dark tape.

@downfader2 Thanks for your comments. Our product is designed to make you visible and identifiable as a cyclist as fast as possible to improve awareness and increase reaction times. Single points of light are more easily lost in the environment and typical side reflectors only work in direct light. Of course, if drivers never look, then all bike lights are irrelevant! We recommend the Lunasee system along with front/rear lights and reflectors!

So its basically a fibre optic system..?
Nice idea. I take issue with it being safer or more visible though. The problem generally proven that drivers dont look when they hit a cyclist at night here in the UK. It would also need to be about 4 or 5 times brighter for the UK as we have lots of traffic that it will get lost in.
any eta on aftermarket availability and price?

@Pwned000 We are still exploring/developing aftermarket applications. We will let you know as we get closer on this. We are however introducing an aftermarket product for motorcycles soon! We will be demonstrating it at Ray Price Harley Davidson in Raleigh on April 16th a their Open House. We will be posting videos soon!

Wouldn't it be smarter to just aim those LEDs outward at the front and rear wheel areas to get far more lumen effectiveness? Yes, it wouldn't be cool circular rim anymore, but you sure would be visible from the side far easier with less complication and less energy wasted with secondary illumination. The secondary luminosity for glow materials is dramatically less than the LED light source itself. Besides, the UV LED is harmful to look at with human eyes at night without protection.

@niteblaster Our system uses state-of-the-art photoluminescence that is fast reacting and significantly brighter than your average PL material. By energizing the PL with a small LED, we are creating more luminescence (over 6 meters of light per wheel) than the LED alone. And while single points of light can work, they are often lost in the environment, making you go "unnoticed". Our circular light "signature" is instantly recognized as a cyclist. This is a key benefit v single points of light.

@niteblaster Our goal has not been to make the brightest light, but to make a system that makes you more practically noticed and recognized as a cyclist to reduce reaction times. For example - while motorcycles have bright lights -- they still are often undetected in the environment because the lights blend into all the other lights in the environment (the lights are visible, but the cyclist is not really seen). The Lunasee light signature is designed to make you visible AND seen/recognized.
