The Prix Italia entry The Pyramid by Johan Andrén is one of seven programmes in a series evoking places and moods from the final stages of the Cold War. This piece refers to a pyramid located by Lake Ralången in northern Småland, a province in the south of Sweden, where the body of nobleman and engineer Malte Liewen Stierngranat
lies embalmed. The pyramid was also once the home of the so-called Roosevelt walking stick, which was previously owned by the American president Theodore Roosevelt and later stolen under mysterious
circumstances in the 1970s. My friend Otto was suspected of having stolen the walking stick and much of the evidence pointed to him as the culprit. The walking stick however, continued its journey eastwards and appeared a couple of years later at an auction in the Russian town of Tula.
Johan Andrén began his radio career in 1993 at Deutschlandfunk in Berlin. Since then he has produced a
number of reports, radio plays and documentaries.

En mycket intressant historia om Otto som var en udda människa, men också om livets mysterier och människors drivkrafter. En välgjord och fin dokumentär!
