  • holy island sounds evil

  • What a bloody joke! These idiots in cars who cross after the safe time need to be charged the full price of launching the inshore life boat 202sqd seaking rescue helicopter and the cost involed of all the other partys involved police etc etc.. I drive this causeway everyday for work and have i ever got stuck NO the tide has never been early and all you need is common sence but somepeople dont have this! (but they still have a licence??) All the SAR teams up here are sick of these rescues

  • RAF 202 do a brilliant job, its a pity all theses air heads using the causeway to and from Holy Island did not learn to read to tide table. Should be made to pay for there stupid pig headed mistakes. Never in time has the tide came in 4 hours EARLY! Get a life

  • i went there, we got stuck too, it was real scary :(

  • NEVER fall asleep driving... lmao! ...gotto admit ...its a fancy senario :P

  • I see a lot of comments here about the tide racing in early flooding the causeway at times when it should be safe to travel.

    This is total bullshit.

The main reason for tide variations is the effect of the gravitational pull from the moon which remains at a constant. The other reason can be down to high winds which can cause a fluctuation of +/- a foot or so which is accounted for in the table - seeing as the table times are padded with a healthy safety margin.

  • Re: tide tables being very accurate, without question 100% true.

In fact the tide table is actually 'padded' with a safety margin.

Then there is the fact that unless the moon were to change its orbital path around the earth (moon = main reason we have tides) this tide table will remain accurate.

And finally, the green-eyed monster reveals itself... what a lucky person you are indeed to live on Holy Island = 1 of the most beautiful places on planet earth.

  • Firstly: I live on the island

Second: Tide tables are 'predictions' but they are very accurate ~ they CANNOT come in two hours early

  • Dont speak 2 me like that, we wernt even on the causeway we were next 2 tide tables at the start of it all, and yes it did come in 4 hours early because of bad weather and it took 2 hours or summit 2 go back out, and the tide tables are just predictions they cant be exact all the time no 1 can be exact with weather/ tide times. And i dont think i am macho at all i wouldn't cross if i seen water near so i suggest you shut up and and learn a few things coz u dont no what u r talking about.

  • Dick... how can the tide come in 4 hours early? It's impossible.

There are signs warning people NOT to go, but pricks (like you) still try to be macho and go ~ as far as I'm concerned you all should be left to drown.
