Speaking about wasps, I have always been interested in insects, including wasps, specially the Polistes annularis paper wasp it is my favorite and is a benefitual insect.

if you got a hornets nest that big, get in pest control, that needs to be sorted with a product that is going to kill in one hit, plus if you get stung by a hornet it makes a waps sting feel like a tickle. i'd puff the entrance with Ficam D, that would kill them all in a matter of hours, but this product is only avalable to profesionals

wasps only live in a nest which lasts for one year. the queen hibernates when its cold, and all the other wasps die from the cold. if you have no wasp nest in your garden, but are still getting a lot of wasps it could be that they are being drawn to your garden as it is a good source of food. they eat sweet things like fallen friut, and also catch flies and other insects which they feed to their larvae. plants heavy in aphids can draw a lot of wasps due to the aphids honey dew.
