What was it like to be a student at IC before the 1960s? Where did students live when the college was downtown? Come learn the answers to these questions and so much more in the second of two videos to explore the downtown roots of Ithaca College.

Thanks for your question! Ithaca College started moving to South Hill in the early 1960s. Construction began in fall 1960, and the first students were on South Hill by fall of 1961. The college decided to move to South Hill because there wasn't any room to expand downtown. IC's facilities were crammed into old buildings that were always falling apart. It just made more sense to rebuild the school from the ground up with dedicated facilities than try to eke out a campus downtown!

  • So when did south hill began ? Who decided to change the campus ? why does it look this way now ? Great video! Very informative :)
