Darla Moore speaks to the Upstate SC chambers of commerce on the need for true reform of our state's tax structure and the establishment of an independent tax review commission.
I would recommend the members of the Pametto Institute include a member that actually does income taxes for an average South Carolinian. The 'experts' need to consider the South Carolinian's income for the average person working in South Carolina is reaching the critical point as far as what is left will real spending power. A fix is not easy but if we continue to raise sales taxes, it will only create an underground barter type marketplace. South Carolinians are doing this more and more.
Herald endorses Vance Stine for SC House District 47.

Darla Moore is correct in saying that we need top to bottom tax reform.
This is not easy, but needs to be done for our state. She recommends an
independent tax research entity to review the current structure and
recommend changes.
The recommendations should be considered and acted on in its entirety
"take it or leave it". One vote up or down for the proposal. We need
to stay away from special interests, if possible.

A state Fairtax proposal is being written, but there is resistance from some politicians....
