On August 8th, 2011, Turtle surveyors on Virginia Key spotted a mysteriously beached Lemon shark. Upon discovery of this dead animal, the surveyors contacted Dr. Neil Hammerschlag from the University of Miami's RJ Dunlap Marine Conservation Program. Dr. Hammerschlag, along with Ph.D. students Austin Gallagher and David Shiffman, conducted a necropsy on the shark.

In this video, you will learn about some basic shark anatomy, as well as how scientists investigate mysterious deaths of ocean creatures.
