Growing up in Houston during the late 80's and early 90's meant you spent some wonderful times at Fame City. You also probably know that ever since this indoor family fun center became "Funplex", it's never been the same.
Fame City used to be a hip hang out for Houston's youth. It had a bowling alley, a miniature golf course, the hottest arcade games, hourly dance performances on the center stage, a roller skating rink, a movie theatre, laser tag, coin operated games for the little ones, family dining, and Adventure Bay Water Park in the next lot over.
I remembered this old home movie that my Dad shot back in 1989. Since there is hardly any historical documentation on youtube about Fame City, I thought I'd share with those of you who are curious about how the place looked and operated in it's prime.
It's really disheartening to know that "Funplex", as it stands today, is a dirty and decrepit building home to teenage drug dealers. I hope this video rekindles some great memories to those who were lucky enough to visit Fame City as a child.
FAME CITY. NEVER FORGET!!!
I actually remember playing several of those exact games when I was a kid... Remember that room where they had all the robots? Freaked me out! I think I went in there when I was around 5 or 6 years old. Their miniature golf course was the best I've ever seen, it's a shame its just a go-cart course now.

@cb11082 Funplex is not a horrible place. It is not kinda ghetto. Funplex is still clean and free of drugs or teenage drug dealers because of the police officers who work there.

YES!!! The BS3! I remember that! Loved this place, man. I remember when it was Fame City Waterworks, before the name changed to Adventure Bay.

I used to love to go to Fame City. I am sad to learn that it is not what it used to be. Now that I have childeren of my own I have been trying to find a place like Fame City to take them to, but none of the alternatives seem to live up to what my memory of what Fame City was.
