Pittsburgh's Grant Building has a replica of a 1930s-era morse code aviation beacon that's supposed to blink out the letters P-I-T-T-S-B-U-R-G-H. On July 5th, 2009, it wasn't really doing that. If I have the time, I'll add some titles and an unlabeled version of the clip.

  • Why Does It have a Beacon??? (I don't exactly know what this is for...)

  • I SAW THIS ON THE RADIO

  • FYI, I can now see the flashing beacon from my desk today, 28 Sep 2009, due to the cloud cover. It currently says P-I-T-T-S-B-U-R but it stops there. The G from G-20 must have left and gotten the H out of there. :) (I know, I know - hey, it made ME laugh!)

  • i saw it on the kdka news too

  • haha just saw that on kdka news

  • kudos for that.

  • fail

  • I heard about this on NPR yesterday. Interesting how very few people paid attention to this until someone figured out the error.
