  • How does one pronounce Spithead? Is it literally Spit-head? or Spi-theed

  • The former is correct. Spithead is the body of water between Portsmouth and The Isle of Wight. This is where the Royal Navy have their 'Fleet Reviews' . Portsmouth being the main RN Dockyard.
