Hello Tony so sad you are gone. I was 20 in 1972 and an up and coming guitar player when I came to see you playing in Bolton. You had seen me play once before and you saw me in the front row and gave me your guitar and asked me on stage and said to the audience "I want you to see this lad play, I like enjoying myself too". I have never improved much since then but I never forgot that night. God bless Tony.
God blessTony Capstick. I grew up in a Radio Sheffield household, and the voice and laughter of Tony Capstick is very deeply embedded in my subconscious - a daily sound track to my early years, very fondly remembered... Thank you for posting this...
This is priceless! Thanks Billy. I'm so pleased there is stuff turning up about cappo on UTube. i remember (after his 'hit') I went up to the frontier club with him at Batley (the old Batley Variety club) where he filmed his own series for channel 4. I vaguely remember him singing a Paul Simon song ('still crazy'-I think) and Peter Skellern was a guest. If anyone has any tapes of this it would be a crime not to upload some to Utube. Please if you're out there? Got to keep his memory going!
