This public domain movie is a classic example of film noir and one of my favorite movies. In it, a guy is poisoned by radiation poisoning put in his drink, and he knows he is going to die, but in with his remaining time he dedicates himself to discovering who killed him, and why.

It wasn't on YouTube yet so I thought I'd put it up. Orchard-L, author of Boundless Ocean, Missing, and who is helping me make Saturated Dreamers, recommended the movie to me.

Director: Rudolph Mate
Producer: Leo C. Popkin

O'Brien was much underestimated as an actor. He could play straight and comedy roles to the highest level. One of my favourite actors.

"...you've been murdered!" Classic! Should have been on the film poster.

    A Hollywood Note:

"Edmund O'Brien" is the only "Hollywood Lead Actor" to have graduated

    St. John's University

in the Big City of New York!

    hmm,

Just love Neville Brand in this one...I think this was his first movie role. He was truly a tough guy who was a highly decorated WWII vet.

Totally agree but then, in my opinion, some of the most diverse & talented actors (of past & present) don't always get the recognition they deserve, which is sad!

This was my first noir, about 45 years ago. I still love it!

Al "Cake" Wichard on drums. Thumbs up.

Too bad Bigelow didn't really value Paula until it was too late. Typical.

I liked the film.....but it has too many shortcoming to be a super classic....maybe as a cult film. Plot is a bit thin. Tedious as times. But I am very glad you posted this. The more films of this genre, the better....thank you very much.
