  • the only way for a few shots to explode the ENTIRE zeppelin would be if the gas was an exact molal mix of oxygen and hydrogen. More likely, bullets would first puncture the skin, leaking the O2 in and the H2 out, then setting fire at the puncture which spread along the skin or set fire from within the skin. It would be an inferno of skin burning off the frame.

    Hello! This is correct. The rounds used in the video were high incendiary rounds only used for testing. The actual aircraft have to take hundreds of shots, during which gas leaks are simulated by a loss of lift. What you see exploding here are the oxygen tanks stored on board, the bombs in the bomb bay along with the hydrogen.

  • Sorry to dissapoint. The hydrogen itself would burn, not explode, only when mixed with oxygen it actually explodes.
