Get the facts - http://www.cchrint.org/psychiatric-disorders/ 20 million kids have been labeled mentally ill and drugged for mental "disorders" that are simply based on checklists of behaviors. Get the facts, not the marketing campaigns http://www.cchrint.org/psychiatric-disorders/

  • As a clinical psychologist working predominantly with ADHD in the UK, I can say that this is a real condition with no financial benefit to me. To say it is created by psychiatrists and drug companies is to undermine the true difficulties these children and their parents face every day. There are 155 controlled trials showing that medication is safe and beneficial for children. Positron Emission Tomography has shown since the 1990s the difference between ADHD brains and non-ADHD brains.

  • @mandybeetle21 As a clinical psychologist you are severely lacking in facts. So... to quote Allen Frances, the former Chairman of the DSM task force “There are no objective tests in psychiatry-no X-ray, laboratory, or exam finding that says definitively that someone does or does not have a mental disorder. There is no definition of a mental disorder. It’s bullshit. I mean, you just can’t define it.” So get your facts straight.

  • @CCHRInt I am fully aware of the facts. Firstly, ADHD is a developmental disorder, not a mental disorder. It is a clinical decision, based on careful gathering of information from school, home, observation of the child in different settings and should only be done by professionals who are knowledgable in the field. And the PET scan evidence on differences in brain functioning, do you find a way of discounting that as evidence without the use of swear words?

  • @mandybeetle211 You need to do more research. The APA, the NIMH and the FDA all admit there is no PET Scan on earth that has been proven to show ADHD as a physical abnormality. Period. That's why the 4.5 million kids diagnosed ADHD don't have a test proving it. Because ADHD is not a medical condition. Ask the APA, FDA or NIMH. We can give you their email addresses...moreover, the "swearing" was from Allen Frances. Thats what quotation marks are for. Quotes.

  • to say that ADHD is a lie is tantamount to punching me in the gut. do you know how offended i am at your comments CCHRInt? I say F*** you. You have no idea what a struggle it is to be "normal." My executive skills are horrible. I can get very disorganized very quickly. I have to list EVERYTHING in my life and schedule things right down to the tee! Without having super strict organization I would fail. I have been tested multiple times and I have ADHD. All i have to say now is u mad bro?

  • You've been tested by a checklist Chillaxer. Not a brain scan, not an MRI, but a checklist. So it is entirely your right to believe what you want to believe. However, it doesn't make it a medical fact. Any human failing could be said to be a disorder and in fact, is. Grief, sadness, depression, anxiety -- these are all valid albeit unwanted human emotions. Doesn't make it a disease. Never will.

  • @chillaxer1993 We're offended that 5 million kids with no provable medical condition are being put on drugs like Ritalin and Adderall which the US DEA classifies as schedule ll drugs, in the same category as cocaine, morphine and opium. We're offended at a multi billion dollar child drugging industry that is killing kids. That's what we're offended by. The fact is there is no medical test to prove ADHD is a medical condition. Period. What you "believe" is up to you.

  • Vyvanse up in this bitch.

  • @chillaxer1993 Did you ever think that maybe you just have missing data on how to be an executive? There's even data and knowledge to learn about organization, too. And so what if you schedule things. Do you know that actually saves you time? Consider this: Are you comparing yourself to your friends or family, or people you admire? Because yeah, I don't know ya, but I'm sure you're perfectly fine man. Quit over thinking the whole thing.
