The Franklin Furnace

The Franklin Furnace is the only existing blast furnace
left from Danville's iron heritage.It was built by the
Mavs family who were early pioneers in the valley
township area of Montour county.Join Eugene Shipe
who is a direct descendant of the Mavs family as he
describes the operation of the hot blast furnace.

Trail of History ~ Mine Tour

The history of Danville's iron heritage begins with the
history of it's iron mines.Join Herman Jones,Van Wagner,and Larry Mordan as they do their best to portray the miners and how they toiled under Montour Ridge to extract the iron ore.Herman also demonstrates the various mining methods with models and replicas he has built. Also included is an authentic mine mule demonstration.
