You can kinda do the second way with windows:

Some computers pop up with autoplay, from there you can chose to import vids and pics.

if you have windows 7 and the newer version of itunes, go to the place where it gives you the summary, and click on photos. there you can check the box that says add videos and photos, and it should sync to your computer...i hope
