  • Reaganomics" created the myth that tax-cuts for the rich can lead to prosperity and reduced Federal deficits. Quite the opposite in fact, as is well known. Bush has just done the same thing on a much grander scale.

    ...

    "The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy;

    that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."

    - John Kenneth Galbraith

  • @tlkness So you dont mind that Reagan sold weapons to Terrorists and gave immigration Reform to morethan 10 million illegal aliens ? He wasnt a good President, he was a good actor.

  • The problem was not Reagon-omics. It was crony capitalism, federal deficits and federal reserves monetary inflation, loss of dollar value.

    Republicans were not Goldwater/Reagan Constitutional conservatives. They still aren't.

  • @edgarreyes14 Neither that, also, don't forget the drug war, oh my god, he turned it into the greatest armed conflict in history. WW2 is kindengarden shit compared to the Drug War.

  • @GoBig12 your viewpoint's based off of what works for YOU, not everyone ELSE. I'm sure you'll attack me as a "misguided young person", despite that I'm a proud small blue-collar business owner.

  • @GoBig12 We let the companies run free, and what happened? Wages haven't increased in 30 years, we've had rampant recessions, and our country is decaying. Meanwhile this is what we did in the late 20s & led to the depression & WW2, what we did in the late 1800s that led to Unions and violence (which I'm sure we'll see again in 30 years or so)...remember that companies BY NATURE are self-serving, NOT people serving, making Reagan's ideas simply silly

    Facts: a diehard republican's mortal enemy.

  • Reagen = conman who ran up loans and bailed.

  • The last time he told the trugh for sure. Shortly after this Reagan became a corporate shill and then the worst President in our history until George W. Bush came along.

  • To say "government is the problem" is and was too simplistic, and the sign to me of a captive mind. This Ronald Reagan we are hearing in 1948 is remarkable because he is just as doctorinaire as a liberal as he was as a conservative.

    The question is, ladies and gentlemen, how does a grown man go from endorsing Hubert Humphrey to Barry Goldwater. It's not simply a matter of gained wisdom. Most people see both sides of an argument better as they get older. Reagan only ever saw one.

  • alembic- you sir are clueless. Reagan gained wisdom as he got older. He was not a shrill for the rich. He was tired up big gov't and job killing regulation. Also he believe in people. He grew up from this point is what happened. Young people never understand, because of lack of world experience. owning a business etc. He spake as a child here. Reagan realized gov't was the problem. Gov't created inflation etc.

  • Reagan grew wiser in his older years and changed his views. He smartened up. Also democrats of 40s were not like dems of 70s and 80s. Democrats now are socialists basically. Give free handouts. That is not who we used to be a nation. Reagan understood the world better as he grew older like most of us.

  • Announcer: Are you in any way responsible for this government spending

    Ronald Reagan: Well yes, because for many years I was a Democrat.
