Nothing about Billie!! im sorry :-( i did not like

I know that this is Lady Day's song, but why can't Barbara Hendricks sing it as a tribute? I have been spellbound by this version and is my favourite version of the song after Billie's. I like the alterations in tempo and the way she emphasises the crudest aspects of the song. The humming feels also like the breeze and it matches the contemplative but helpless perspective of the observers of this strange fruit. I think this is superb!

oh woooow. magnificent.

She is awsome. A greatest artist.
-
extraordinarily unusual interpretation.

GORGEOUS! I LOVE IT when opera singers sing Jazz or Folk or any other kind of music - when done so with FEELING and an UNDERSTANDING of the style they are singing in. Ms. Hendricks brings such emotion and truth to this ballad.

No one can top Billie Holiday's sincere interpretation of this song.

Agreed, this is a soulful tune made a bit pantomime. Having said that, I'd love a piano stool that did that to me!
interesting version
