These are two scenes put together, with unnecessary footage clipped out, of the movie serial, "Mandrake the Magician" (1939). It may sound funny, but these are the only real moments of magic in this show! The first part of the "act" comes from Chapter 1 of the serial, the second part from Chapter 4. The magic stuff is awesome. The rest of the serial is kind of bland. Mandrake deserved better. This serial is, of course, based on the popular comic strip, "Mandrake the Magician". Interesting things to note about this serial: Mandrake has no mustache, he rarely wears his famous costume, and his magic is very infrequent. In addition, Lothar is not black, but Hawaiian. It's not a bad show, but it could have been easily used on any hero character. There was nothing very "Mandrake" about it. On the plus side, Warren Hull did a great job as Mandrake (he just needed a mustache).
