Siren: Federal Signal SD-10
Location: Mitchell Elementary School
Owner: City of Muncie
Status: Under repair by MFD
This was a bad day for me to try and get a tornado siren test. I didn't check the camera batteries and they died while trying to record. They screwed up the visual although audio came through pretty good. This thing stopped working last year and the MFD is trying to repair it.
I also had several problems recording sirens in the past.

I work on river blvd at Lifetouch in the old school building and ours goes off at 11 every friday on the dot. It is funny because I have phone calls saved where the customer couldn't hear the thing, but I could hear it in the recording.

The ones you are hearing first would be Ball State's Whelen WPS-4004's. They tend to sound first. But they atleast not that I've ever heard sound together. And your right we do have a few of the T-bolts left 3 1000's and 1 1000T.

Wasn't Muncie the town where "Close Encounters" was supposed to have taken place (before they went to Devils Tower, WY)?

Nice viceo inspite of all tha twent wrong. I had a similar problem recording our monthly test. 1. it was extreamly windy, 2 my recorder's memory filled up right in the middle of the test, 3. I wasn't as close as I would of like to of been, and 4 the siren I recorded, an Whelen WS 2008, cycled oddly, do to the timer still being set for the old Model 5 it replaced.
