ahhh great video, thanks! Reminds us all of back when Portland was inhabitated by real Oregonians.

Plus, you won't see a log raft anywhere nowadays. We used to walk halfway out the Willamette below the falls to fish for sturgeon on log rafts. Check out the Frazier River in Vancouver, BC right where it meets the Pacific if you want to see log rafts like we used to have.

I was home from the Air Force so I am thinking more like 1976 or 77? Best commercial ever made. My dear departed brother sang this song for years.

The Brewery was, of course, the Blitz Weinhard brewery. It's primo brand was Blitz with a bulk brand for us penniless students at PCC in the 70's called Bohemian. I understand the old building is now yuppie lofts or some such nonsense in the equally nonsensically dubbed "Pearl" district. I don't know who brews Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve but believe me it's drinking piss compared to an ice cold Blitz

yes!

If you look carefully on a weinhards bottle it says Blitz Weinhard. Its in the stores everywhere here. They make a great dark beer and a summer wheat and a super rootbeer also.Since theyre still Blitz-Weinhard they could and should play this great ad!

Ok- here we go- there is a Henry Weinhards (sp?) commercial that was shown in the Pac Northwest in the late 90's early 00's- a guy is having a war oyster for the first time, and they have shots from the inside of the house looking out towards the guy (and friends) getting ready to eat a raw oyster.
And, for the inside shots, there is a fantastic, great, awesome jazz song that everyone is listening to- I am looking for that song, by way of that commercial.
Anyone have any insight?

weinhards should use this ad today. Its ideal for our Portland of craft microbrews.

Makes me homesick for Oregon. I've been away too long since I think of that building as the 1st National tower. Is is true that Blitz-Weinhard doesn't even exist anymore?
Great ad! I must point out, though, that it dates from the early 70s or later...the tall building you see in the Portland skyline was built in the early 70s. Still, thanks for uploading!

Scoutie--right you are. That building (currently the Wells Fargo Center) went up in '72, so this clip postdates that. Though not by much, I'd guess.

Sorry I didn't have a cleaner copy--but it sure captures a time and place, doesn't it?
