@CAFFlyer Wrong, on all counts
Only the Valiant B.mk-1 had Wing Root Problems from flying at low level
(which wouldn't have happened had the Valiant B.Mk-II been ordered instead).
The only flaws the Victor had, was there weren't more of her, & that she was born into a Country who's Government didn't value nor truly understand it's Aerospace Industry.

fast and bulbous

A most elegant aircraft.

No, the Vulcan got the better publicity. A Victor B2 could fly further, higher, faster and carry a 35,000Lb weapon load (as against the Vulcan's 21,000Lb). It was a better aircraft for the crew with it's level cabin, it was an easier air to air fuel receiver due to the probe being over the top of the windscreens (and so in line with the pilot's eye) and in an emergency it was possible to dump fuel, a Vulcan didn't have this capability.

That's a big brute!

would agree the vulcan wins on looks but you can't escape the fact that the victor flew faster, higher, further than the vulcan and carry more there.

Fantastic! was faster could fly higher and take double the bombload of a vulcan so wouldnt say vulcan was better,vulcan was outstanding aircraft but dont under estimate the capabilities of the Victor.this was the largest aircraft to go supersonic in the 50s
My favorite plane ever!

@PenzancePete
The reason the Victor wasn't better in the end was twofold - 1) It was too advanced. It's basic systems, like rotary the bomb bay, were very difficult to maintain and was prone to failure. 2) It couldn't cope with the low-level environment that modern SAM systems presented. When they tried to move it to low-level (like the Vulcan) the fleet quickly developed cracks in the spars and had to be grounded. Only the few tankers survived.
