Beautiful piece and beautiful playing - thank you for providing this for our enjoyment.

It does feel a bit rushed, but I think this piece is fantastic. There is another post for this song that gives a tad more information about the situation the song was written for. I think that helps in understanding the piece as well. I am in a music appreciation class and I have to give a presentation on Maxwell-Davies. I am most definitely using some form of this song in it. I think this might be it.
Thanks for posting!!

Yes I prefer it a little slower, too

I liked this ibitially as I am a fan of modern classical, but find it monotonous and repetitive. The piano is not the easiest instrument to compose for: I find Satie a bit tedious. Both his compositions and this one seem to accentuate the solitude of the solo piano, whilst Debussy, Mussorsky, Chopin, Ravel and others seem to make the solo piano work alot harder.

Beautiful and sensitive rendition, worthy of a master who has already completed his lifetime's achievements.
