After visiting the San Diego Zoo, we headed out to the Wild Animal Park so we could complete our 2006 animal investigation of San Diego and environs. The park is huge, but you can ride a train or go by truck right into the huge enclosures and rub elbows with giraffes and rhinos. This isn't just a storage facility for the zoo's extra animals. This is a natural habitat area with animals living in conditions that rival their free-range homes.
Actually, those are lorikeets.

I've never been very bright about birds. Lorikeets, eh? Thanks!
