The apple grows well only in the cool areas or in the mountainous areas. The world's production of apples totals 64 million tons a year, of which 27 million tons or about 40% is produced by China followed by USA 4.2 M, 2.7 M by Iran, 2.2 M by Turkey and Russia, respectively, and 2.0 M by Italy and India, respectively.

Commercially, apples can be stored for some months in chambers with higher concentrations of carbon dioxide to prevent ripening.

The red apple in the YouTube pictures is called Fuji has a longer shelf life and this type of apple is most produced worldwide, about 12.3 million tons a year. Another type termed World No 1 grows as heavy as one kilo grams or two pounds. Both Fuji and World No.1 were developed in Japan.
