  • I respect everyone's view and I fully support those of you who love this. Whatever brings people closer to God is fantastic as far as I am concerned. Personally, I think it is ghastly and would kill my relationship with God. This Mass is like watching a one man stage play. Then again, actors face the audience .

  • @InstantSite The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is certainly not a stage play, even if the priest were facing the people. Christ Himself instituted the Mass at the Last Supper 2,000 years ago, and He commanded His apostles to imitate Him and pass the Mass on through the tradition of the Church that He Himself founded on St. Peter, the first pope. Christ becomes really present under the appearances of bread and wine. Read more about the Mass here: archive.org/details/holysacrificeofm00gihriala

  • Thank you!

  • @HGK745 I must correct you on this one thing. All of Christ's Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity is present in even the smallest particle of the host, which is why it is necessary for every altar to have an ablution cup. The Body of Christ contains all of Himself. There is no real necessity to distribute the chalice. It is, however, necessary for the re-presentation of the sacrifice to have the chalice and for the priest to consume, but not the congregation.

  • @tollitonto1 Actually, the faithful are participating very deeply on an individual, spiritual level. I agree that this rite is way more priest-oriented than congregation-oriented than the post-Vatican II Novus Ordo mass, and at communion the faithful only receive the Body of Christ without the Precious Blood, but the faithful are participating. In this particular mass, though, I don't think there even were any faithful present.

  • @tollitonto1 Really? Are they not praying while at the foot of Calvary?

  • This is magnificent. When my Grandfather's Uncle, venerable Pivs pp XII was Pope, this was the Mass he new. He would not even recognize the new order. He would be appalled by the new order. I can't see anyone not seeing and feeling the awesome presence of our Lord Jesus, His father and the Holy Spirit in this Mass. Dr.G!
