It appears that Americans are still in denial. They really believe that because we always survived the problems our country had in the past that we will in the future. They think we are blessed and nothing can happen to us. But wake up our jobs are going overseas, American corporations no longer have and loyalty to Americans. Their loyalty is to MONEY. It is so sad that Americans can't see the forest from the trees.

ok look, i m from india and we are not that intelligent or anything, and our education system is bullshit, its a manufacturing industry, not a school or college, and just a few days ago indian 15 year olds ranked 2nd last in the math, science and reading skills, compared to entire world, so that means they r really fuckin dumb as well, so yeah, fuck this stereotypes, we are a billion population and a bunch of the top cream gets selected in these colleges means nothing to me.

However, you are ignoring the numbers -- even at their dismal rates of graduation, they are still churning out enormous numbers of intelligent and well-educated students. At the end of the day, it will come down to sheer numbers.

What Bob Compton does is to compare top 0.5% Indians & Chinese (& they are in billions) against average or below average American kids. Down deep Indian educationalist would like to bring their standard up to SAT, but they know it is not possible in foreseeable future. India’s high school dropout rate is around 68%. 12% to 20% have access to higher education. India does have remarkable progress in several area, but all is eaten up by population & slums are the one creating population problem.

Indian students must be encouraged to have a greater exposure to life generally including sudies, work experience, sports, etc. Just studying the books to achieve good grades is not everything; mental agitility and thinking process are more important!
