This is the background music loop that plays in the indoor queue of The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure, at Disney California Adventure. Danny Troob created a 10-minute medley of Alan Menken's classic songs from the film, newly arranged and recorded specifically for the attraction. This is my piano arrangement of that medley, created by ear (as usual) and performed by yours truly. Also as usual, I've edited together multiple takes to create a more "perfect" recording, though I've left some smaller mistakes in there. (If you notice the tempo fluctuating a little, part of that is from the editing.)

Comments and critiques are always welcome! However, requests (or demands) for tutorials, sheet music, and so forth will mostly be ignored because as I've explained many times, I have neither a video camera nor the incredible amount of time, patience, and interest required to write down a 10-minute piano arrangement. And if you haven't even read this video description or other comments on other videos, you haven't exactly done your homework, have you? :D

  • Totally stunning! This is why you rock at piano! I can not wait to hear the entire ride if you end up doing it :)

  • @daevster Thanks, Evan! :) The complete ride-through is in the works right now...some of the transitions are rather awkward, but I'm trying to get it to work. :D

  • @1taken it can figure it out. What's the tempo? 140?

  • @castmemberzack There are lots of tempi, but I have no idea what any of them are. =/ They change from song to song, and sometimes within the songs, too, not to mention my own unintentional fluctuations. I don't use a metronome for these recordings. What software are you using?

  • @1taken I have a better idea. When I get home I can make a video and send you it. I don't remember the plugin name. And maybe if the tempo isn't right maybe just turn quarter notes to eighth. We will see if it picks it up though!

  • @castmemberzack You're not crafting an especially persuasive argument here, haha...I generally don't share my MIDI files, but if you tell me more about your experience using this plugin, maybe including its name, how you'd correct my mistakes, whether the plugin can detect and notate tempo changes and tremolos and arpeggiated chords and whatnot...well, I might consider sending you at least a few passages to see how it turns out. =)

  • @1taken if it is exported as a midi, then it will work.

  • @1taken a GarageBand plugin

  • @castmemberzack I wouldn't be so sure...the MIDI wouldn't contain any information about my tempi; I don't follow whatever constant tempo the computer is keeping. I'm guessing you'd have to tell the software where each beat was. There are also tremolos and whatnot that would need to be notated manually, not to mention the fact that I'm a rather messy pianist, and I make outright mistakes, too. It'd honestly be quicker to do the whole thing manually...but not quick enough. =P

  • @outlanderfrog Let's just say I've heard this loop FAR too many times to count. ;) But I did use a few YouTube videos for additional reference, particularly for the parts that are too hard to hear when you're in that queue area.
