Thousands of wells dot the 586-square-mile Hanford Site in Washington state. The wells were primarily used for monitoring, and sometimes treatment of the groundwater. Many are older and are no longer needed. Using Recovery Act funding, Department of Energy contractor CH2M HILL Plateau Remediation Company is decomissionioning 350 wells, including 175 wells in 2010 alone. This video was produced by CH2M HILL on March 5, 2010.
