As índias acreanas Kátia Hushahu e Raimunda Putani, da etnia yawanawá, estão entre as 54 mulheres brasileiras que concorrem ao prêmio Mulher-Cidadã Bertha Lutz.

A indicação das pajés, por iniciativa do senador Tião Viana (PT), foi recebida no mês passado pela Subsecretaria de Apoio a Conselhos e Órgãos do Parlamento.

Hushahu e Putani apareceram na mídia a primeira vez, em novembro, no meu modesto http://altino.blogspot.com/, quando Laura Soriano Yawanawa relatou que as duas mulheres se mostraram mais corajosas que os homens da tribo ao prestar juramento ao Rare, uma planta sagrada do povo yawanawá, usada apenas na iniciação ao xamanismo.

  • Those are the most expensive natives from south america, they sometimes demand $40.000 for a visit, mainly if the visitor is a foreigner. If you are brazilian tourist or a native offspring you will have to pay "only" $2000.

    Of course western societies have a huge debt with native americans, but demanding that prices is just insane.

    Most of people in Brazil barely earn more than $400 a month. Capitalism is destroying most of tribes...
