  • It looks like the max force was 2.242 Newtons atabout frame 750 or so andthen the material begins to fail and the force drops to 2.184N at frame 788. If I knew the scale of the image I might be able to calculate the tensile strength of the material and then make a guess what it was!

  • @lastmiles It's a human hair - mine!

  • @thishasgottobecrazy Looks like realtime beacuse of the zoom motion.

  • Incredibly strong!

  • And?

  • In order to capture this in video form, did the process of pulling the hair have to happen really slow in order for the SEM to get each frame? Or was this done at a relatively normal speed (maybe even real time) and the SEM was just able to keep up with it?

  • Do you have SEM???? How much are they?

  • Hahaha, props for reading the description.

  • exceptional. I'm curious what the material was. Given its ability to bend into a tight loop without fracture I am guessing some sort of modern monofiliment. Certainly any metal would have begun to neck and stretch and then fracture before ever getting to a tight loop. I am really curious about this.

  • that it is? inside fiber ?
