This is the updated 62RI -- and I've gone one step further and put CS 69 pickups in.

  • Nice playing man, are those cs 69's much different from the stock pickups?

  • Yeah, they really are. More scooped midrange, glassier, and quackier. For lack of a better word, they're a bit brighter. The stock pickups are good too though.

  • Man that's a nice combo I think you really nailed those mayer licks from his version of lenny/man on the side. I wonder if it's more the amp or the pickups?

  • Thanks! A good clean Fender amp set up right and a good Strat set up right will get you close. After that it's all shades of gray for the last few percent. My Mayer Strat gets a little closer though. Fingers and technique play a big part - his attack and mind must be similar, because that's where so much of it comes from.

  • jooder como suena eso, el bassman es dios, y las cs69 son de lo mejor para strato

  • @SharkBite43 does this mean that it only has enough headroom for bedroom use ? im thinking of buying this amp, for mainly gig use. and i want to make sure it will have enough headroom and volume for a small sized venue (any bigger and would likely be miced up, but not always the case !). so will i be able to have it at gig volume level (pretty darn loud), and not break up ? as i use a pedalboard for anything else. thanks !

  • nice sound...nice Strat

  • My volume is probably at around 3:00. That amp has a LOT of headroom. I play at least 1 gig a week where I can get away with that much power, though... so I do get to crank it and push it hot from time to time. It's heavenly.

  • Great tone, and you're really copping the 60's Strat sound in spades!

    Playing is top notch!
