This is in response to progress in the last few days in the WA legel system in regards to the 11 year old child arrested for stealing a Freddo Frog and put into an adult gaol. Also this is in response to NSW police shooting a man attempting to kill himself in front of school children in Lakemba. I explain that part of this attitude in a colonial habit of managing crime an punishment when justice is fails.

  • A lot of aspects of society need to change, and not only in Australia an dthe USA...

  • People forget that we thought for our rights, not the corporate world and authorities are taking our rights away again. To get our rights back means hard work, lobbying and yes, hitting the streets in passive protest. That sounds like a real pain in the arse, but it wasn't easy for the protesters in the 1960s either, it is always hard work. It's even harder to get people into believing that people can change the situation without giving up passively.

  • Heartbreaking. And you are correct. These happenings are not exclusive to Oz. They occur every day in the US. There seems to be a real disconnect between humans and humanity...

  • There is a disconnection and dysfunction of purpose when the authory's actions cause further violence as a reaction to their error.

  • :)

  • The 1994 Young Offenders Act says children should only face court for the most serious offences. The WA police force was shown to be a joke in relation to the difference of treatment between anglo's and aboriginals.

  • Sometimes I think people with an I.Q. of 2 can be more trusted with a uniform and a gun than those who actually wear them. I have a friend who has seen first hand people with a mental handicap having more common sense than people with a college+ education. How sad is that???

I guess I shall be very careful not to cross anyone with a police uniform, here OR there.

  • Isn't there something like legal immunity for kids in Australia. Here a we can't prosecute a child under the age of 12. That's also the reason why drug pushers use young kids as drug runners to find buyers or to make deliveries. A sick world it is. The suicide story....... she could have used a taser, but those are only allowed to be used on kids, and procedure is procedure. Good item saint.

  • the jail wouldn't have worried me as a kid--it'd give me something to brag about with other naughty kids.....

  • Both cases are very sad and tragic. Good points :)
