I remember when I saw OMD perform live back in 1988,they were the opening band for "Depeche Mode".I asked my friend who I went with to the concert,"Who's OMD again?"My friend says,"the group who does "Tesla Girls",our school's drill team routine song, you know,it goes no no no".I remember I said,"Oh yeaaah"(back then long ago,I was a young teenage Freshman in HS).

the video, which was Andy McCluskey's idea, was lampooning the style of American music videos the band was pressured into making by Virgin Records in the hope of breaking into the U.S. market. He believed that American music videos relied heavily on attractive young female models posing and preening in front of the camera. While no one but the band appeared to get the joke, a furor did develop. It was the last time Virgin Records interfered with the style of videos of the band's singles.(Wiki)

OMD are crazy-they're totally the Kim Wilde of album versions being the exact length of the cut singles or barely longer. I DON'T GET IT?! Why do they do this. 'Tesla' in normal form only goes to 4.36-that's a time that would be considered a short cut for Simple Minds/New Order/U2/Depeche Mode/Eurythmics/Bonnie Tyler and many others that love to stretch everything to inordinate length. This and the longer 'Never Turn Away' should have been put on the album. Talk about editing yourself to death!

The version I recorded from was the US version which notes it "New Extended". Looking into the UK discography it says 2nd version is noted as "Extra Version". To make it clear I will note it appropriately.
