Margaret Sciarrino gives her testimony about the pain of her abortion and how she found healing, as she speaks at a gathering of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign in Washington DC on January 22, 2010.
If you are 18 & over & your parents are threatening you with being kicked out of the house if you refuse to have an abortion, then I want you to know that there are plenty of maternity homes out there that are willing to assist you if you need a place to live. The CPCs can give you a referral to your local maternity home. You do not have to give in to the demands of abusive parents, husbands or boyfriends. This is your decision, not theirs.
If your parents are threatening you with being kicked out of the house, I want you to know that if you are a minor (under 18), they don't have the right to kick you out. If they do, this is called abandonment & Child Protective Services can be called on them. They do not have to care for your child once he or she is born, but they do have to care for you, their minor daughter. If they don't, they can be charged with child abandonment.
If you are a pregnant teen & you want to have your baby, I want you to know your rights. You have a right to have your baby & NO ONE has the right to force you to have an abortion. Please go to a crisis pregnancy center (CPC) for help. They can help you with talking to your parents. If your parents are trying to force you to have an abortion, you have the right to call the police on them, if necessary. As the pro-abortion crowd loves to say, "It is your body & your choice, not theirs."
Thank you, Margaret, for sharing your testimony. God loves you & has forgiven you. Thank you, also, for being a good & godly mother and being supportive of your daughter through her pregnancy. I only wish that more parents would be loving, forgiving, & supportive of their daughters in this type of situation. Unfortunately, there are many abusive parents out there who will try to force their daughters into an unwanted abortion.
Please go to a crisis pregnancy center (CPC) for help if you are being pressured, coerced, or forced into an unwanted abortion.
