Honoring Street Fighter 4, I bring you a series of epic battles from past Capcom titles and other games influenced by Street Fighter. This is "Art Of Fighting" (1992, SNK), an early attempt by SNK
to get in on the fighting game scene. It's actually more original than first glance. The story is your basic "save the girl" routine, but there's some interesting
ideas here that made the game stand out. Instead of being a concrete fighting game,
it feels more like a beat-em-up in non-sidescrolling, one-on-one form.
There's a fireball gauge which limit the amount of times you can use projectiles.
You can only pick one out of two players in "story mode" so it's more linear.
The camera zooms in and out depending on enemy range.
The controls get a little unresponsive, and the main characters
are a bit generic. Ryo is Ken with shorter hair, and Robert
is your stereotypical Spanish guy. Actually what's funny is that
Capcom decided to parody Robert by creating Dan in the
"Street Fighter Alpha" series. It's supposed to be a message
of how pitiful SNK is compared to Capcom, lol. They also took Jean (Fighter's History) and turned him into Rose. Capcom fights back, people.
